Rules
and Guidelines
1)
www.RBiBaseball.NET will adhere to MLB rules as they may apply
during gameplay.
2) Ours is a wooden bat league. Metal bats may not be
used at any time. (bunting, stealing permitted)
3) All
players of different skill levels are encouraged to play.
4) All
players must be the minimum age of 18.
5) League Fees: Applicable team/individual fees must be
remitted before the start of the season. Once the season begins,
league fees will be non-refundable. If any extenuating circumstances
arise, teams/individuals must contact the league office for any refund
requests.
6) Waiver Forms: All players must sign applicable
waiver forms and have form on record with league office. Players
are not allowed to participate in league play without having a waiver
form on file with the league office and any player found in violation
of such will be disqualified from the league and all stats forfeited.
7) Uniforms: All players must wear appropriate uniforms
at all times. Players must wear uniform jerseys that must be of same
color with number on the back. Violation of this rule will result in
one (1) strike at every at bat. Jersey must be tucked in at all times.
8) Rosters: Each team must start a minimum of nine (9)
players at all times. Maximum roster size permitted is twenty (20)
players.

Jewelry: No jewelry (chains, rings, etc.) will be permitted during
gameplay. (At the discretion of
the umpire)
10) Protection: Players are allowed to wear protection
during an at bat (shinguard, elbowguard, etc.) but must not be
excessive. (At the discretion of the umpire)
11) Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather
conditions, game will be called after 5 full innings of gameplay.
Team managers should confer with league officials in the event of
inclement weather to see if the game has been called two (2) hours
prior to gametime. It is the responsibility of each manager to
alert their players.
12) Schedules/Exhibition Games/ Practice: Each team will
receive a league schedule prior to the beginning of the season. Due to
constraints in field availability, the league will try to accommodate
exhibition games. It is not the responsibility of the league to
arrange practices. Team managers must arrange their own practices.
13) Extra Innings: In the event of extra innings, due to
time constraints, teams will play an additional two (2) innings. If by
then the game has not been decided, game will result in a tie. Should
the two teams have playoff implications, the game will be rescheduled
at a later date.
14) Field Conditions: Teams are to leave the field in
exactly the way it was found. Teams must clean up after themselves and
put all trash in the park’s trash bins for the benefit of the other
teams and the league. No teams/players may deface or destroy park
facilities in any way. This may lead to expulsion from the league.
15) Mercy Rule: In the event a team achieves a ten run
lead (or greater) at the end of the fifth inning, the other team
current trailing must use the next half of the inning to narrow the
lead to under ten runs. If such does not occur, the game will be
called. (This is to prevent showing up an overmatched team.)
16) Suspensions: It is at the sole discretion of the
umpires to manage gameplay conduct. Umpires may issue warnings at
their own discretion in order to maintain decent conduct. In the event
a player is tossed from a game, umpires must inform the league and
describe actions occurred.
17) Appeals: Appeals regarding suspensions may be made
solely by team managers. All appeals must be made in writing to league
officials.
18) Arguments: Players/Coaches may not argue calls ball &
strikes made by the umpire at any point during the game. Players may
not show up the umpire in any way during the game. Only
coaches/managers may argue calls made on the field.
19) Statistics: Managers must delegate someone from their
team to manage the team’s scorecard. Each scorecard will detail the
team’s/individual’s statistics. Such delegate will then e-mail the
league office the finalized scorecards who will then upload the stats
on a weekly basis. Any team/manager found to falsify stats will be
subject to expulsion from the league and league fees will not be
refundable.
20) Complaints: Only managers may contact the league
office to express their complaints regarding official umpiring/gameplay.
21) Forfeits: All teams will receive a league schedule
prior to their first game. Teams are advised to review their schedules
and advise the league of any conflicts beforehand. If a team is unable
to make a scheduled game, the manager must alert the league one (1)
day prior to game. If a manager calls less than one (1) day prior to
the game it will be up to the other team to allow a rescheduling. All
forfeits will result in a final score of 7-0. Teams are not permitted
more than two (2) forfeits. In the event a team forfeits more than two
(2) games they will be removed from the league and will also forfeit
their league fees.
22) Rosters Deadlines: Teams must submit frozen rosters
after their fifth (5) game. Any changes in a team’s roster must be
posted to the league transactions board. Any players claimed off
waivers/added after the tenth (10) game may not play in the playoffs.
Only players on rosters may play. League/Umpires may request photo
I.D. for verification purposes. Maximum roster size must not exceed
twenty (20) and the minimum must be ten (10).
23) Waiver Wire: Any team may acquire prospective players
from the waiver wire who are not associated with a team at the start
of the season or during the season. Players who are not claimed may
contact team managers to request a “tryout”.
24) All-Star Game: Will be held at the halfway point of
the season (TBD). Managers currently in 1st place of their respect
divisions along with league officials will select which position
players based upon current performance will participate. At least one
player from each team must be delegated a slot in the All-Star lineup.
25) Postseason: Each Division will receive a wildcard
that will allow it to advance to the postseason. The wild card will
face the division leader in a one (1) game playoff showdown. The
advancing teams will face each other in a three (3) game playoff
series for the championship (TBD).
26) Awards:
The league will recognize the following achievements:

- League Manager of the Year -
League Saves Leader
27) Injuries: In the event a player suffers a serious
injury, players must alert park officials or call “(911)” for
immediate help. If a player injures himself during gameplay the
manager must make the allotted change. In the event a pitcher is
injured, a new pitcher has five (5) minutes to warm-up and take over
pitching duties.
28) In Game Changes (Roster): All starting lineup rosters
must be remitted to the umpire for review during pre-game warm-ups.
Managers must notify the umpire and other team managers of any pinch
hitters/fielding changes prior to an at bat. Pitchers must finish each
at bat begun unless injury prevents them.
29) Ground Rules: Umpires must go over all ground rules
prior to gameplay with managers, who in turn must inform their
players.
30) Punctuality: Players are encouraged to arrive up to a
½ hour prior to gametime. This is at the discretion of each manager.
Due to time constraints, teams must be ready to take the field at
gametime. If a team des not have the minimum 9 players by gametime,
umpire will allow an additional 10 minutes of extended warm-ups after
such time the game will be called a forfeit.
31) Conduct: The use of profanity, vulgarity, taunting or
the verbal abuse of umpires and officials will not be tolerated at any
time. Players found violating these guidelines will be thrown out of
the game. Pending severity, commissioner may suspend player(s) in
violation.
32) Fighting: Fighting will not be tolerated at any time
during the league. Fighting will result in an automatic 1-2 game
suspension depending on severity.
33)
Equipment: Teams are responsible for supplying their own
equipment, bases, and baseballs. The
home team
will provide the bases. Baseballs must be regulation sized Major
League Baseballs.
